Suppose you collect these measurements and determine (using your new Excel skills) that the 52 thermoses in Group A had a mean temperature of 55 with a standard deviation of 7, while the 57 thermoses in Group B had a mean temperature of 64 with a standard deviation of 13.

Note that the two-group t-test does not require that both groups have the same sample size. This is another way of saying that the two-group t-test is “robust” (a fancy term that statisticians like to use).

Your data then produce the following table in Fig. 5.8:
